There is a story which has gained the status of a folklore. It goes something like this. In the early 1960s, Pakistan was seen as a model of economic development around the world, and there was much praise for the way its economy was progressing. It has been suggested by numerous economists and bureaucrats, that many countries sought to emulate Pakistan's economic planning strategy and one of them, South Korea, ended up copying Pakistan's Second Five Year Plan (1960-65). Those who recount this story argue that in the early 1960s, Pakistan's and Korea's per capita incomes were more or less equal. "Now no defence is foreign for Indian armed forces from now"

as far as the previous image of this sub continent was concerned, India was the biggest importer of the defence equipment in the world approx all the items were of either russian or Israeli and what not country insted of having so sufficient organization called  DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization)  that is now proving its worth by delivering so promisable  technology like TEJAS, AGNI missile series, AKASH missile, ARJUN TANKS and what not.. In 2011-12, India had spent Rs 80,318.08 crore on procurement of defence equipment for the Army, Air Force and Navy. Of this, 64.95 per cent was procured from indigenous sources, as per figures given by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Lok Sabha. but the era is near when we will be self sufficient to produce our own technology and not request to the other nation to deliver theirs but make better than theirs... so if we have such opportunity we should use it completely in our fav...
